Grin and Bear It 5K

If Grin and Bear It 2013 was the “soft” start to my fitness journey, 2014 was the IPO in earnest. I hadn’t trained any better or gotten serious by race time. I think I had maybe taken about a week’s worth or handful of walks in the month of September leading up to the race.

The big difference in this one was that the field was so small in my age group that I managed to snag a third place finish in my age group. My time was slightly faster than the year before but it was still all a brisk walk. I wasn’t able to run yet at this point.

Time: 42:52.7

Pace: 13:42/mile

Weight at time of race: 318 lbs.
